When offered a list of Web 2.0 types of site, only 17% of global IT managers in large companies identified correctly that all of them would come under the banner of Web 2.0. In fact, the average number selected from a list of 10 categories is just 6 per IT manager. This demonstrates that while 87% were able to identify at least 1 as a Web 2.0 site, very few have a complete understanding of the extent to which this type of interactive technology is being used across the Internet today.
Nevertheless, the three most commonly recognized categories of Web 2.0 are:
1. Social networks used primarily for personal use, e.g. Facebook (65%)
2. Social networks used primarily for business use, e.g. LinkedIn (64%)
3. Web portals such as iGoogle (61%).
